The world of audiovisual technology is rapidly evolving, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the transformation from consumer entertainment to commercial applications.
Those big, bright screens that once brought sports to life in living rooms are now enhancing communication in offices and other professional settings.
This shift not only caters to the NFL fan at home but is revolutionizing communication in offices, educational institutions, and places of worship with cutting-edge commercial displays and conference room TVs
Continue reading as we explore how these technologies are changing not only the way we watch sports but also how we share information and collaborate in business and educational settings.
The Shift from Consumer to Commercial
The explosion of new technologies in audiovisual systems, alongside consumer demand for larger, brighter, and more cost-effective screens, has greatly benefited the average consumer and sports enthusiast.
Those impressive 60”, 70”, and 84” flat screens not only bring life to NBA playoffs or the World Series at home but have also found a useful place in professional settings.
This trend has seamlessly transitioned from the home to the office, where conference rooms, huddle spaces, and training areas are now frequently equipped with advanced commercial displays.
These screens, whether mounted flat or tilted, offer ease of use and require minimal maintenance, making them a preferred choice for enhancing corporate communications.
The Limitations of Standard Flat Screens in Large Spaces
Flat screens are great in cozy boardrooms, but when you move them into a large conference room, classroom, or church, that massive 80” conference room TV suddenly doesn’t seem so big anymore.
This can be a real issue for people sitting at the back who might struggle to see the details on the screen.
When attendees can’t see presentations or videos clearly, it really cuts down on how effective a meeting or lesson can be.
Everyone should get the full picture, no matter where they’re sitting.
How to Choose the Right Screen Size for Your Space
When setting up a screen for a large room, an audio visual professional will tell you size really does matter.
How do we figure out just how big? It’s actually quite simple: we look at how far the back-row viewer is from the screen.
For example, if that’s 30 feet away, you’re going to need a screen that’s 5 feet high. That works out to needing a whopping 122-inch diagonal screen if you’re using a standard HD aspect ratio.
Yes, that’s huge, and yes, such big screens can be tough to find and not always practical.
We’re often asked if using two smaller flat screens, one on each side of a room, could work instead of one large screen.
While this setup brings the screens closer to some viewers, it doesn’t fully solve the problem.
Viewers at the back, say 35 to 50 feet away, still find it difficult to see details on a 50″ or 60″ screen, which isn’t ideal for engaging experiences in training sessions or worship services.
Projectors can easily fill in where flat screens fall short, offering massive display sizes perfect for ensuring everyone gets a clear view, no matter where they’re seated.
Ideal for big venues, they’re a game-changer for keeping everyone engaged.
